Building Healthy Self-Esteem and Self-Confidence
Increase healthy self-esteem, confidence and a can do attitude that results in children not only feeling better about themselves, but also doing better!
While working in early childhood classrooms the last 20 years, I have noticed some behaviors that concern me.
*A child struggling to hold a scissors or draw a letter and then they simply give up, whining for help?
*Needy and demanding children looking for children constant validation?
*Youth who feel entitled to accolades, after completing mediocre work and little effort?
*A child who gives up when the going gets tough and actually start avoiding difficult tasks?
Can you relate to these experiences?
I was surprised to learn one major reason for the decline in positive outcomes for children is related to the well-meaning self-esteem movement!
I was so grateful to gain an understanding of why this was happening in our classrooms (and in the U.S.) and what I could do about it. Thankfully, when I adjusted how I responded, children persevered longer, became more self-assured, and exhibited less negative behavior like whining (a hot button of mine!)
Now, I have trained hundreds of others on the easy, evidence-based strategies and we are getting great results and you can too!
*Reduce whining and needy behavior
*Build a "can do" attitude in young children
*Promote kinder and more thoughtful behavior
*Set the children we care for on a road to future success
